My counselling career spans over 10 years, during which I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families across clinical, educational, and community settings. My work is primarily focused on supporting families and addressing parenting challenges, helping caregivers better understand and respond to their children’s emotional and behavioural needs. I have extensive experience working with children experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, social challenges, and school-related concerns.
I also work with adults navigating life transitions, self-esteem, confidence, and anxiety, supporting them in developing greater clarity, resilience, and emotional balance. In addition, I have significant experience supporting immigrant and newcomer populations, offering culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care tailored to each client’s background and lived experience.

I value community, and I am passionate about social justice issues. I recognize that our social structures and ideas of self impact our lived experiences and how we navigate the world. My journey into working in the mental health field began in Australia in 2011 as a mentor for youth at the Department for Child Protection. My most recent work as a counsellor draws individuals wanting to explore their sense of self, reshape patterns of behaviour, understand and regulate emotions, or work through family and relationship traumas. However, my diverse background and playful humour allow me to connect with people from all walks of life and I welcome anyone who feels like I may be a fit.
My counselling style is guided by my core values of gentle curiosity, compassion, authenticity, and open-mindedness, drawing on various techniques curated specifically to support your unique self. My goal is to walk alongside you as we deepen your understanding of self, identify the needs behind your feelings and emotions, and explore paths to reach your desired goals in ways that align with your values.

(She/Her/Hers)
Hello! My name is Abigail (pronouns she/her). I am a Chinese-Canadian cisgendered woman who was born and raised in the Greater Vancouver area, on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and kwikwəƛ̓ əm (Kwikwetlem) nations.
No matter what stage of life you are at or what burdens may be weighing on you, we can work together to unpack these challenges. Therapy is a safe space that can look different for every person. Whether you are looking to process overwhelming emotions, achieve specific behaviour changes, develop more meaningful connections, or understand traumatic responses, I am here to support your journey and discover what resilience looks like for you. Along with achieving your unique goals, my purpose is to help you gain more autonomy in your life and feel empowered to make changes every day.
Working at the pace we set together, I prioritize developing a strong connection while emphasizing the importance of compassion and empathy. My work is guided by a genuine curiosity in your experience, collaborative approach to your healing. This can feel like warmth, realness, and sometimes even humour. Your personal experience is incredibly important to me, and I welcome your feedback at every point in our work together.
My approach is primarily grounded in attachment-based and psychodynamic theory, which means that your personal experience will guide the pathway to healing. I also use cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) to tend to distressing emotions and thoughts, while developing strategies you can use in your everyday life.
Growing up, I was raised by my Chinese-speaking grandmother and am conversationally fluent in Cantonese. As the eldest child in an Asian household, I am deeply familiar with struggles concerning parental relationships, perfectionism, and cultural identity. Through my experiences, I have developed a profound curiosity for understanding why I am the way I am, and what I want for myself. Growing up around technology, I have witnessed the current problems facing young adults, including social media, loneliness, and self-worth. I myself am very much plugged into the virtual world, because I like to stay connected! Both online and offline, I care deeply about my friends and family, and in particular, my chubby cat.

(He/Him/His)
I believe that each of us is born with the innate capacity and desire to grow. However, our growth can be temporarily hindered by challenging life circumstances and experiences. Without a trusted companion, self-reflection can become overwhelming, making it exhausting to explore and unpack memories, understand current and past relationships, and their impact on our feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. As a gay man and an immigrant, I can also relate to the struggles faced by those who don’t feel that they have a place in a world that unfairly places expectations on folks who are considered “different” to simply “fit in.”
Just as I was supported by a healer more than 10 years ago after a traumatic event, I’m here to accompany you on your self-discovery journey with compassion and empathy. In counselling, we would collaboratively create a safe space where you can feel heard and accepted. My approach is trauma-informed, empathetic, sex positive, culturally sensitive, and unapologetically encouraging. I can provide counselling in both English and Mandarin.
I draw on various counselling modalities, including emotionally focused therapy, internal family systems, somatic, and polyvagal theories. It is my belief that symptoms clients present are adaptive strategies and logical consequences of past attachment experiences. When we feel accepted, acknowledged, and cared for, we can naturally break out of unhelpful cycles that trap up in distress and reach out to important others for help and support.

(She/Her)
Throughout my career, I’ve seen the profound transformation that happens when people feel truly seen and heard. I view mental health through a broad lens—recognizing that our lives are shaped not only by personal experiences but also by the world around us. In counselling, I aim to bring awareness to these connections to support healing, insight, and growth. As a queer, white, cisgender, solo parent, I’m committed—both personally and professionally—to unlearning and challenging systems of oppression. I strive to create an affirming therapeutic space that feels safe, inclusive, and honors your capacity for healing.
My approach to therapy is grounded in relationship. I believe that a strong, trusting connection is essential for meaningful therapeutic work. I’m trauma-informed, meaning I understand how past experiences can shape present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and I approach our work with care and sensitivity. I work from an intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive perspective, recognizing that what we often name as personal struggles are deeply influenced by the larger systems we live in and the environments we grew up in. I take a collaborative and flexible approach to counselling, tailoring our work to your unique needs and goals to co-create a path forward that feels right for you. My aim is to meet you where you are, support greater self-awareness, and join you in working toward meaningful change.

My work is grounded in attachment theory and I use a number of evidence-based approaches. I believe that change occurs when one begins to develop acceptance and compassion for oneself. I believe that emotions are an important source of information that can teach us much about who we are and what we value. I explore past relationships to encourage people to uncover unhelpful beliefs they have formed about themselves and the world, which allows people to unlock themselves from patterns or coping strategies that no longer serve them. I take a person-centred and psychodynamic approach, drawing heavily on emotion-focused and compassion-focussed psychotherapies as well as mindfulness-based, polyvagal and internal family systems theories.
As a supervisor and consultant to other therapists, I strive to create a safe and trusting environment where one feels at ease to share their vulnerabilities, make mistakes, grow and learn. I welcome the exploration of transference, countertransference and self of the therapist issues. We bring ourselves into our work with our clients so it’s important that we examine the impact this can have on the therapeutic process. Supervision also needs to feel practical and useful, so I offer guidance and teaching of specific approaches and interventions. Regular review of audio/video clips or transcripts is encouraged but not necessary. Reflection and discussion of ethical issues is often a part of the work.
